From my findings, we can identify that Switzerland provides more multilingual resources and health information to society compared to Australia with a focus on the city of Sydney. This may be due to the reason that Switzerland has four official languages and therefore has a greater understanding and greater support to cater to a diversity of languages.
Sydney is divided into more multicultural and multilingual diverse suburbs, meaning some suburbs have more access to multilingual resources than others. This can be observed by comparing Chatswood and Freshwater, where Chatswood has a large population of non-English speakers compared to Freshwater which is mainly English. St.Ives in an example of a suburb that is increasingly becoming more diverse, indicated by schools providing multilingual signages for road rules.
While Zurich lies in the German-speaking part of Switzerland it still provides COVID signages in ten different languages to support all members in society. Other COVID signs are found to be translated into English and at least one of the three main languages spoken in Switzerland. Announcements, warnings and maps on mountain slopes are also multilingual. This is because Switzerland is aware of its strong multilingual background and also the diversity of tourists travelling to Switzerland.
